What the original account establishes

These notes distinguish the recorded result from quantities or settings the contributor did not specify. Follow each source link to the original passage.

  • Two sisters made the bar on a Friday with ingredients from Sobeys, priced in the account as a bag of icing sugar at 3.19, 2 bags of caramels at 5.98, corn syrup at 3.49, bulk dry roasted peanuts at 1.41 and bulk Callebaut chocolate chips at 4.75, a total of 18.82. The photographs cover the nougat first, then the caramel, then a milk chocolate bottom, a flip, chocolate for the top and a cross-section; no quantities or times are written. The maker’s verdict was that the nougat ratio is a bit much but the taste is the same. Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3 · Source 4 · Source 5 · Source 6 · Source 7 · Source 8 · Source 9

Bag of icing sugar – 3.19
2 bags of caramels – 5.98
cornsyrup – 3.49
Dry roasted peanuts – bulk – 1.41
Calebaut chocolate chips – bulk – 4.75

Ingredients on a cluttered desk: bagged caramels, icing sugar, corn syrup, peanuts and a Snickers bar

Next we made the nougat part, !

Pale nougat mixture spread into a parchment-lined loaf tin beside a stand mixer

Next came the caramel part

Two lined loaf tins filled with peanut-studded caramel poured over the nougat layer

next the milk chocolate bottom !

Melted chocolate spread across the top of both loaf tins to seal the bars

Le Flip

Cross Section

And a final seal of approval from Mr Hawco ! The nougat ratio is a bit much, but it still tastes the same
