For those who are not aware, Lebkuchen is a spicy, German, gingerbread, Christmas snack. And since it's ONLY 18 weeks until Christmas, we thought we might as well get into the festive spirit early.
The ingredients are as follows...
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup molasses
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
225g icing sugar
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon food colouring (we chose pink)
lots and lots and lots of sprinkles
The drinks were poured, the Bowling for Soup CD was inserted (I know, I'm sorry) and the oven was preheated to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
But what's with all this cup business?
We were not sure what kind of cup to use, so we used this one, wonderfully modelled by Franski...
Start by mixing the egg, brown sugar, honey and molasses until smooth (what we called "The Wet Mixture")
Secondly mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice and baking soda together (what we called (guess what) "The Dry Mixture")
Then mix my pimping childs!!! Mix until it turns into dough! Mwa ha ha ha!
