- 3 bars of 200g milk chocolate and an unmeasured amount of puffed rice, about £2, bought easily because the maker works at Tesco. Having noted other pimps’ failures with the microwave, the bars were broken into a bowl propped over a saucepan of boiling water and stirred for about 10 to 15 minutes until melted, then the puffed rice was stirred in with a sister’s help and more added until there seemed enough; the hot bowl made the pour into a bread tin painful and some was spilled. After approximately 1 hour it was still soft, so it went into the freezer and had set after only 45 minutes, and a table knife and a few smacks on the sideboard freed it from the tin. It filled a whole dinner plate, broke into bits when a piece was cut, started melting as soon as it was touched and was picked up with kitchen roll; the maker was delighted not to have burnt the chocolate. 3 Bars of 200g Milk Chocolate Some crispy puffs of rice (for copyright reasons) A lot of patience and a little boredom

First of all, I noted the failed attempts of melting chocolate in the microwave from other pimps, so I decided to use the reliable method… The cooker! So, whilst discovering how fast the chocolate melts onto my fingers, I broke the 3 bars into a bowl and propped that on top of a saucepan of boiling water and stirred. Make sure you’re careful when doing this bit, it’s dangerous! Well, it is when I get hold of it…

Ingredients:
3 Bars of 200g Milk Chocolate
Some crispy puffs of rice (for copyright reasons)
A lot of patience and a little boredom
Cost: Approx £2

As I work at Tesco, I found the ingredients very easy to come accross. Now, I know it isn’t difficult to pimp a Rice crispy cake, but I thought I’d start simple (after all, I am from Derbyshire)…
Well, it is when I get hold of it anyway…

After about 10-15 minutes the chocolate had melted so, quite enjoyably (and with assistance from my sister whose hand is in the picture… and the chocolate…) I/we added the crispy puffs of rice (copyright reasons) and stirred them in until they were covered in chocolate… mmmmm!

Once all of the crispy puffs of rice (copyright reasons) had been coated and more added until I was satisfied that there was enough, I attempted to pour the mixture into the bread tin. However, before I even managed to get it near the bread tin, I found that the hot bowl caused me much pain, so I asked my sister for help yet again… And we spilled some…

After approximately 1 hour, I went to check my useless attempt at a pimp to see if it had set. However, it was still soft and so I decided to put it into the freezer for another hour… Once I had found room anyway…
After only 45 minutes, I went to check it again and it had set! WHOOPEE!! Ahem… Well, almost a celebration… Removing it from the tin seemed to be one hell of a sod! So, I got myself a table knife and, after some crafty handy work and a few smacks on the sideboard (something else for my mum to whinge about) it freed it’s grip on the bread tin. By this time, however, my sister and her unborn child had gone upstairs for a nap and so it was up to me to sample it.

This is the finished product…
And this is a cross-section (both pointless, and fuzzy… think I moved just as I pressed the shutter…)

The taste? Amazingly satisfying, though it started melting as soon as I touched it so, rather cleverly I think, I used kitchen roll to pick it up. Yes, it’s a rubbish attempt, but for my first effort, I’m rather delighted I managed to not burn the chocolate!
Oh, and about the size… It’s rather big! It took up a whole dinner plate! And it broke into bits when I cut a bit for my sister… Lots of calories though…
