    My friend stayed over last night and somehow we got into a bit of a nostalgia kick.

    Anyone remember The Shoe People? They're even on Youtube now ^_^ (Search for Shoe People without the The)

    They'd never get away with calling a character Trampy now ^_^ They're all calld stupid things like "Flobble" or "Shumy" or something equally ... wrong.

    Jace and the wheeled warriors? Fantastic.

    TV thesedays isn't half as good.

    the shoe people was brilliant.

    as was the poddington peas.

    sharky and george was also brilliant, but i dont know if that was 80's and i cant be bothered to put the minute or so of effort into going on wikipedia and finding out.

    kids telly is rubbish now, pokemon, wot utter c**p, you want a bit of bananaman!! in my day even the cartoons taught children morals, now they encourage happy slapping!!

    what about my little pony? teenage ninja mutant turtles (heros in a half shell)? anyone remember wizbit....? a giant yellow triangle that did tricks with paul daniels??!!!

    pokemon isnt kids tv from nowadays, it is late 90's tv.

    also, earlier in the year i acquired all 408 episodes of pokemon on dvd from a friend who downloaded them. Let me tell you, after watching the entire first season i canot stand to watch anymore.

    I watched a lot of power rangers in my childhood, if that was really popular these days they would try and ban it saying ti caused kids to be violent or something

    I'm 17 and 3 of my friends and i had an hour long discussion about power ranger a week ago, because we are awesome.

    also i think alcohol may have played a part in it

    tsk tsk, drinking at 17 - shocking!

    My oldest niece is almost 8 you see, PD, It's making me feel ancient!

    In fact, my oldest step-niece is almost 13 and they watch utter rubbish on TV. It's highly upsetting.

    Anyone play the old shareware games on DOS? I was showing my niece 'word rescue' the other day. So much better than the stuff she gets to play!

    power rangers?? thats not classic kids telly - like pimp daddy i am 23 and to us oldies superted and thundercats are classics!! the first band i loved was bad boys inc - bet none of you remember them huh huh??!!

    Oi, I didn't drink till I was 18, thank you. Not that I was waiting for the day, I just didn't want to.

    Well, there was the once. But I'd just broken up with a girlfriend and was on a biology field trip in the girls' dorm with lots of wine and ... well.

    This is why I used to get extra-annoyed when asked for ID - I've never tried to sneak in anywhere, because I wasn't interested. The cheek of some greasy barman accusing me, mumble, mutter.

    Power Rangers is deffinatley 90s! I used to watch it and I wasn't born till 1990!

    And the alcohol thing ... I think its fine in moderate amounts if your under 18 but some of my friends go a little overboard. Even after 18 you shouldn't drink ike they do ... (not mentoning anyone in particular ... cafein)

    I don't drink too much.

    well i may on thursday after getting results, but if i drink loads there is usually a good reason for it

    O yes, I am so looking forward to Thursday ... not! Although I truly pity blueeyes for it is not only results day but her birthday also.

    For those of you who are confused ... i did GCSE's this year but also did a Music Tech AS because I did GCSE music a year early. It was a truly stupid idea because I absolutley hated music tech. Blah

    They somehow organised for me to have both my physics and both my food exams on the same day, so i cant wait to see how badly that made me do in my food exams, as i didnt care about food, it was jsut something to fill up the 4th subject space.

    Yes I seem to remember having a particulary stressful day where I had 4 exams. But 3 of them were GCSE so not as bad as yours. I would say I'm sure you'll have done great but I don't really know you & I know blueeyes hates it when I say stuff like that.

    Speaking as someone that did absurdly well at GCSE and then chronically badly at A-level I can reassure you that ultimately all you need them for the basic requirements of getting into your local college/6th form.

    Then, all you really need A levels for is getting into Uni, and then all you need is a half decent degree to get a job. As long as you stumble into some kind of half-decent degree qualification by the end then you're pretty safe in terms of career. I don't know many employers that are too bothered about how GCSEs went.

    No I know all that. Didn't make me any less stressed though. I think its all the pressure I got from teachers to do well ... made me worry that I wouldn't. Plus the fact that you've been working towards them for 2 years.

    When you are doing GCSEs they seem really important, then as soon as you start ASs you realise GCSEs are pretty worthless.

    I assume it is the same with every stage of learning

    Yes, eventually you'll learn that all that counts is MONEY, AND LOTS OF IT PLEASE.

    The trouble is nobody really wants to give you any for free. Grr.

    I got given money for going to 6th form all last year, it was brilliant.

    I even got my £20 a week during study leave when i didnt have to go to school.

    That really annoys me, everyone before now has gone to college for the priviledge of learning, not because the bloody government bribed us into it!

    Society is going down the plug if you ask me. The only salvation I can see lies in the gigantification of snackfoods.

    I dont get free money next year, my mum started earnign too much.

    but on the plus side that means i dont have to go to registration anymore, i can jsut go to school for my lessons then go home during ym free periods

    Oh yes, and PS: Work hard for all your exams and you'll get where you want to be. Good luck for all results-folk this week and next, I remember when it was my turn how nerve-racking it was! Luckily, at the age of 25-on-Friday, I now never have to do another exam in my life (unless I choose to...!)!
