I have received an email from YouTube today telling me the video of 'The F Word' on my account has been removed 'as a result of a third-party notification by Optomen Television Limited claiming that this material is infringing'.
Optomen Televsion is the production company who produce The F Word, the same company that gave me bloody permission at the time to reproduce the clip on the website!
This is, I hope, an error, and not them showing themselves to be arseholes, and so I've emailed them. Even if they stick fingers in their ears about having given me permission, how can they object to a 3 minute piece which features my own website?
when you tube was not making any money no one cared that there where clips of programs music videos ect on the site, google now owns the site so every one now wants to sue google over copyright, knowing google isnt short of a few bob. got a feeling that things will get a lot worse before they get better.

My, I'm a tad annnoyed. [Twisted Evil]
I can understand that, but you are still effectively pirating part of a show that does not belong to you. I suppose that is how GoogleTube views it anyway...
But you say the TV company gave you persmission to place their show on Tube? Then there should be no problem I guess but it's down to how Tube handles these situations.
I'm rather hoping the chaps at the production company have just run a youtube search for their shows, and demanded removal of anything that matches without thinking about it. Hopefully I'll get it reversed.
After lots of emails back and forth, I've managed to agree an arragement with the production company to restore the video, which they now have.
The bottom line is that, it was felt that since they won't allow any other clips from The F Word to be on YouTube, it would be quite unrepresentative of the show to ONLY have our clip on there.
The compromise being that the clip has been restored, but all textual reference to The F Word has been removed from the title, description, and keywords, and so I've just renamed it 'Giant Jaffa Cake', which is fine.
Nice to meet someone willing to talk and compromise reasonably about this kind of thing, and the lady I spoke to at Optomen was lovely and chased around a lot to sort everything out, so yay!
