I take it youve all heard about Richard Hammond, how awful is that? I hope he'll be ok! He lives near us, and he seems so nice, I realise driving like thats dangerous but it still seems a bit wierd to think that hes critically ill!

Maybe he should take up pimping instead - Top Pimp! Much safer!

I couldn't believe it when I heard about it. It's so sad - but here's hoping he's back to his normal, healthy and very cute self as soon as possible.

I really hope he wont' be joining Steve Irwin in the "crazy TV presenters in the sky" club.

    All the best to him.

    Nooo...

    He's such a lovely man.

Good wishes to him and his family!

(dammit, they'd better not cancel top gear over this)

I know [Crying or Very sad] I really was almost in tears when I heard. Top Gear has only recently become a part of my life (I was introduced by dear blueeyes) but it is quite fixed there now. They really had better not cancel next week's, what shall I do?
  8. blueeyes Thu Sep 21, 2006 3:54 pm #8
Aren't they just 'best of' at the moment?
  9. beckly Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:02 pm #9
Actually yes you're right, panick over [Very Happy]
  10. Vix83 Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:32 pm #10
my boyfriend loves cars so we have to watch it ever week (even the best ofs even though we've seen them all a million times) and richard makes it so much nicer to watch! Also its really funny, i cant wait for the new series, but obviously i really hope he gets better soon and hope his familys ok. Theyve been talking about it on telly all day!
  11. em'n'mz Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:57 pm #11
i love top gear its like my favorite. i hope they dont end up canceling the show becasue he got hurt
  12. blueeyes Thu Sep 21, 2006 5:45 pm #12
Well, in today's blame society it's likely it will at least get changed. Of course Hammond should be responsible for his own actions, since I'm sure he was fully aware of the risks, but the media are starting to attack the BBC.

Fat lot of good that's going to do anyone. I hate it when the media do that.
  13. Ich bin ein Berliner Thu Sep 21, 2006 5:47 pm #13
Clarkson and Captain Slow are quoted on the BBC website as saying they are looking forward to getting their "hamster" back - hopefully this means Richard will be okay, and Top Gear will continue. No idea what The Stig said , though.
  14. blueeyes Thu Sep 21, 2006 5:54 pm #14
    He has to be ok.

No one that cute can be permitted to suffer.

I feel really bad for his family.

And glad that the Top Gear crew are standing by. Good boys!
  15. Vix83 Thu Sep 21, 2006 7:36 pm #15
the media have been attacking the bbc and the show today. I did think at one point they were making it sound like it was all his fault, but really it was just a freak accident that was very unfortunate for him - after all he must have known the risks and hes a really experienced driver

Well according to the paper he has "a significant brain injury", which doesn't sound great. He's not out of the woods yet. But the doctors have also been quoted as saying they're optimistic he'll make a good recovery.
  17. blueeyes Fri Sep 22, 2006 1:14 pm #17
Moved out of intensive care, apparantly.
  18. em'n'mz Fri Sep 22, 2006 1:26 pm #18
thats great hopefully he'll be ok

    poor hamster
  19. chocolate 800 Fri Sep 22, 2006 3:36 pm #19
I read too that when Clarkson visited him in hospital he started giving out about his bad drving - which brought a smile to Richard's face - great news. [Very Happy]

Quite upset about this if I'm honest, and as said before - someone that cute shouldn't have to suffer.

Best wishes to him and his family for his recovery - am sure his girls are missing him at home. [Crying or Very sad]

I have to admit hes become a big part of my telly viweing and i was quite upset when i heard, that why i wanted to start the thread!
  21. blueeyes Fri Sep 22, 2006 4:15 pm #21
It's great to see how many people care.

    He is so lovely.
  22. em'n'mz Fri Sep 22, 2006 4:33 pm #22
top gear wouldn't b the same without him
  23. Ich bin ein Berliner Fri Sep 22, 2006 5:43 pm #23
James May says the Hammond he knows is perfectly intact deep inside, and has had a short conversation with him.

Had a thought - what about some snacks that could be dedicated to Hamster? Like car shaped cakes, or something similar?
  24. em'n'mz Fri Sep 22, 2006 6:26 pm #24
that would be so wonderful then u could send the pictures to top gear and see if they'll put them on the new seris
  25. Vix83 Fri Sep 22, 2006 11:27 pm #25
thats an ace idea! we should definately do that, its supportive and promotes PTS!!
  26. em'n'mz Sat Sep 23, 2006 10:47 am #26
    but what would people make?
  27. Vix83 Sat Sep 23, 2006 3:36 pm #27
i made a car shaped birthday cake for my boyfriend back in may and it was really easy to make....i suppose a wagon wheel is quite fitting too - decorated to look like a car alloy or something
  28. em'n'mz Sat Sep 23, 2006 4:21 pm #28

  29. Vix83 Sat Sep 23, 2006 6:26 pm #29

  34. Ich bin ein Berliner Mon Sep 25, 2006 7:48 pm #34
    Idea no longer...

Ich bin ein Berliner presents the first... Hamster Cake!

Hammond's Toyota Aygo footballer, made in true Top Gear style, with plenty of mess ups along the way and few appropiate tools.

I would be happy to submit an article on how this was made if wanted.
  35. em'n'mz Mon Sep 25, 2006 8:01 pm #35
    this is rocking.
i love it. can you send me the recipie becasue my dad would love this for his birthday
  36. LadyV Mon Sep 25, 2006 9:51 pm #36
actually Richard Hammonds wife has requested that instead of flowers and gifts, people give a donation to the Yorkshire Air ambulance.
    Perhaps a yellow helicopter cake?
