1. Dairy Milk
2. Curly Wurly
3. Mars Bar
4. Galaxy
5. Snickers
6. Kit-Kat
7. Flake
8. Toblerone
9. Crunchie
10. Cadbury Carame

From, purportedly, 5000 people surveyed.

Obviously, we have not surveyed as many people as Onepoll, however I didn't want this one to drag on forever and felt that 982 responses were more than enough to get an idea of what's popular. It's a surprise to me that Galaxy is top, and does not surprise me that Curly Wurly is 6th. That's much more representative, I think!

I feel an intense urge to discuss the new 2012 Olympic logo that was unveiled today, but rather than clog up the main page with it, I've decided to write a short page about my thoughts here

Pimp That Snack was at The Black Horse Pub in Fulmer to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Wagon Wheels today. Keith Chegwin is pictured here with our very own Soop Dogg, and a giant pimped Jammie Wagon Wheel which was later auctioned off for a cracking £500, the proceeds of which has gone to three local charities.

WHAT A MOUTHFUL

Biggest ever Wagon Wheel to be auctioned at charity event

Two foot wide, with jam and fluffy mallow trapped between two bisuits and smothered in delicious chocolate – you’ll need to do more than just grin to get it in. Pimp That Snack is attempting to produce the biggest ever Wagon Wheel biscuit to be auctioned at a charity event, to celebrate 60 years of one of Britain’s best loved snacks.

Pimp That Snack, a group with the sole aim of creating massive versions of well-known snacks, will bake the giant biscuit for the first ever Wagon Wheel Rolling Championship, taking place in Fulmer near Slough on Saturday 26th May. The super-sized Wagon Wheel will be auctioned off for charity by event host, Keith Chegwin.

“Creating the largest ever Wagon Wheel to be auctioned is our biggest challenge yet.  We have an experienced team of four working on this project, between us we have pimped a giant Jammie Dodger, a giant rainbow drop, a fistful of fudge and a king rolo to name but a few.  60 years is an important milestone and so we’re going for broke and pulling out all the stops for the giant Wagon Wheel,”  said Pimp That Snack founder ‘Pimpdaddy’.

Wagon Wheels were invented by Garfield Howard Weston CBE, known as Garry Weston, 60 years ago in Slough. The recipe hasn’t changed much since 1947 and contrary to popular belief the Wagon Wheel is still the same man-sized snack it ever was.

“It is great to be able to mark Wagon Wheel’s anniversary by raising money for good causes and having a bit of fun.  Creating a giant Wagon Wheel seemed an appropriate accompaniment to the Wagon Wheel Rolling Championships – which promises to be a great day out,” comments Jeremy Dunn, Senior Brand Manager from Burton’s Foods, the bakers of Wagon Wheels.

The world’s first Wagon Wheel Rolling Championship will take place at The Black Horse pub in Fulmer near Slough (renamed The Wagon Wheels Arms for the day) on Saturday 26th May between 12 noon and 3pm. The event, hosted by television legend, Keith Chegwin will raise money for several local good causes including The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable funds, the local PACE Centre in Aylesbury and the Eyeless Trust.

I really wish we'd made this, but we didn't, Skoda did. Absolutely amazing advert, 100/100 from me.

I think it's about time that whoever pinched this poor chap, gives him back.

17th April 2007

Today is a very special day. Why? When I returned home from work this afternoon I was greeted with a package from the lovely chaps at Bah Humbugs, a sweet shop based in North Yorkshire that also have an online shop which you can get to at the link above. Contained inside were my most favourite sweets ever, Jelly Belly Jelly beans.

If you've never encountered these before, then let me tell you that they are the only beans in the world worth buying. Any other jelly bean you buy has some kind of vague flavour that's nowhere near what you're supposed to have bought, but Jelly Bellys taste like the actual flavours advertised. The BEST kind of Jelly Belly bean is Cinnamon flavour. Anyway, what did I get?

mmm, Jelly Bellys

49 Assorted Flavours

Smoothie Blend

Sours

Mint Trio

Speaking as a biased person, these are seriously tasty. I tore into the packets mere seconds after taking these pictures which is no good for my training regime. The smoothie blend is particulary good but I think I prefer the sours, which are deliciously tangy on the tongue. The mint trio, a new mixture, is particularly strange. They're like a jelly bean version of tictacs, and are deliciously flavoured in spearmint and peppermint. If you like minty sweets then I'd say they're worth trying at least once.

Bah Humbugs also sent me this picture, which is made entirely of Jelly Bellys and I'm sure you'll agree, is a feat of genius.

Mmmm, Jelly house rock.

Unsurprisingly, a load of Easter traffic has slowed up the site a little bit. After a bit of fiddling, we should be back up to a fairly zippy speed. If anyone experiences any problems, let me know, thanks!

22nd February 2007

So cripplingly embarassing was what ended up being a tiny feature on Channel 4's homemade programme, I won't embed the video of it here, but instead provide a link if you're curious enough to go see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkAyfTWK7vM.

Cheers to our helpful forum moderator Tricky for putting this up.

Naturally I'm annoyed they made it out to be a *grrr* Pimp My stupid car programme parody, which it wasn't. It was supposed to go under a section called 'too much time on your hands' and be considerably longer than the 30 second skit eventually shown.

Nevermind, in my limited experience, TV people are fickle like this, making things that weren't terribly clever to start with even more stupid so as to appeal to as many people as possible. I won't feel too bad about it, as Homemade is actually such an awful show that I doubt anyone was actually watching. Even people that like me and wanted to see me appear were barely able to sit through it to get to our bit.

1st February 2007

I've had confirmation today that a snack pimping video we shot for a couple of weeks ago is going to be on TV.

Saturday 17th Feb, 1:30pm, Channel 4 on the 'Homemade' show. Much to my utter annoyance, it seems as though they plan to pitch it as a Pimp My (crap car pimping show) parody. I'm not sure how they're going to achieve that, because when we filmed it we were completely straight-faced about the snack pimping process (as we should be, given that we're a completely different non-associated entity to 'them'), so how they're going to put some kind of parody twist on it is beyond me.

I fear it'll be overlaid with some horrible rap combined with some kind of 'gangsta' voiceover. Ugh. Here's to hoping its not a completely cringeworthy experience.

Saturday 17th Feb, 1:30pm, Channel 4.

21st January 2007

I was thinking of adding this as a pimp, but then I realised with wasn't worth it.

This is a short video of a Giant Party Ring that me and Mrs Pimpdaddy made this week, as a practice run for one we made today for T4's 'Homemade' program. We should be appearing on Channel 4 on a Saturday in about 3 weeks time - I'll post a more definite date when I know it.

Suffice to say I'm sick of the sight of party rings now, bleugh. Still, enjoy the video :)

19th January 2007

We're pleased to annouce the winners of our Christmas T-shirt giveaway. The following Christmas pimps qualified:

Advent Calendar by Nicola Jay & co.
Mince Pie by Tom McKee
Giant Yummy Money by Stephen Dick
XXXL Yule Log by Barney and the Cream Design Team

A couple of efforts didn't make the grade, but thanks to everyone who took part. I'll offer another few prizes around Easter time for the best Easter-orientated pimps, so get those thinking caps on! :)

18th January 2007

Sorry, there haven't been many updates for a while. I have a valid excuse however, it involves having moved house (stressful) during which my computer broke (annoying) and the place I moved in to needed a lot of work (expensive)

But! Now I'm back in the frame, and I've added a couple of shamelessly backdated pimps on the project page. I've still got a zillion more to put up so expect a few more to trickle in over the next week or two. Aside from that, thanks to all who donated over Xmas to our fund raiser, and those lucky five of you who submitted Christmas pimps will get your t-shirty reward as soon as I get round to emailing you for your address. Stay tuned, lots will follow in 2007!

P.S. My post-xmas diet is not going well :(

18th December 2006

This recently submitted Yule log is quite mental. I think it's a surefire winner of our Xmas T-shirt giveaway.

14th December 2006

Just a little update - Pimp Daddy did a radio interview with BBC Radio Cleveland this evening. Here is an mp3 for your consumption.

4th December 2006

Some of you will have noticed I've been rather bad at updating lately. This is owing to a lot of personal-life busyness lately that involves both moving home and changing jobs. On the plus side I've made the news interface a little easier for myself so I should be able to add new news a lot easier from now on.

You might remember recently on Website of the Week we made mention of the Sand Dodgers which we helped to sponsor and send them on their way to Gambia. Here are a couple of funky promotional pics they sent us, pointing at our tiny logo that'll soon be trekking across half the globe. It's special.

3rd August 2006

Being mentioned on 'The F Word' has resulted in the site being under very heavy load. If the site is running a little bit slow please bear with us! Meanwhile, welcome, new people :)

27th June 2006

Just a few quick updates - we now have a 'Website of the Week' section where Pimp Daddy will feature a website that's taken this interest lately. If you have a website you'd like featured, please submit it to the usual email address.

Also look for us on the 2nd August 2006 at 8pm on Channel 4's TV show 'The F Word' with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey. Unless they edit us out, we'll have a nice big pimp feature on there as well as interviews with the Pimp Daddy and fellow snack pimpers!

3rd June 2006

Lots of exciting events recently including a change of name!

Apart from a zillion more pimps added, we now have t-shirts on sale, finally! Please let us know what you think of them!
