hello there,

your doing quite well with your journey so far, but £44 already arghh! I'd be crying if that was me. One of my favourite meals for when I have no money is basics pasta (spaghetti is preferred for me) and a tin of chopped tomatoes with some red pesto, although there is no meat its still very filling and if your desperate put some tinned tuna in it.

My cheapo top tips are:

Buy stuff from the cheap section that are about to go out of date then freeze it (you'll save tons of money and still get really decent stuff)

Never shop at the little versions of the supermarkets, eg tesco metro, express etc.. because they are always more expensive and there is less choice for value goods.

When shopping for bargains go to asda! even if its further away in the long run you'll get tons more for your money than sainsburys or tesco and there is always LOADS of offers on.

treat yourself to expensive bread (I always buy warbies) then freeze it and have your sandwiches with toast instead, still tastes good and stops you from wasting bread when it either goes stale or green.

hope this helps you with your food journey :)

As a student I'd buy a tin of beans, chips and a Tesco Value mini pizza (40p?) for a meal and those pizzas are cheap and tasty :) Looks like you've gone a little more upmarket than that though.

Enjoy your stir fry later in the week - I can't get enough of those, they're tasty.

I hope you can hold up the cost until the end of the month :)
