I am all for people trying, and not being afraid to fail - but really - Can that amazing Oreo really sit next to the likes of the Mini Cheddar?
As more and more people want to jump on the pimped up bandwaggon, you really need to enforce some quality control, before the whole site ends up like that creme egg disaster.
How about an exclusive 'VIP pimp' area - only the top pimps are allowed in?
There wouldn't be much point having a rating system if all I did was allow the best pimps in. Even pimps which don't go quite right are still a great read.
This is why we have a league table so people can just see the best, if thats what they want. I have rejected a couple of pimps, mostly on the grounds of horribly blurry pictures, but even so I don't see any reason why, if someone has gone to the pimpin' effort, they shouldn't see it up on the site.
If today you were a newcomer, having just typed in the site URL and arrived at your first page, you would have to get through a lot of dross before you were able to appreciate the beauty of the site.

I agree with you. Pimpin snacks should just be a fun hobby and it gives encouragement to other pimpers out there if we can read about pimps that didn't quite go to plan. Anyway, those can sometimes be the funniest reads! Take the creme egg disaster - one of the things that makes it funny in my opinion is that it went more and more wrong, but every stage was photgraphed!

Like you you mean?? Actually if your a newcomer you obviously haven't understood the point of the site and missed the fact that the things about pimping is that everyone can do it and have fun!! Having a grading system would make the site elitist, which is not what its about!!
And the creme egg disaster is a personal fave because its soooooooooooooo funny, and shows how resourceful one man can be!! We can all learn from the mistakes of others!
PD tells it like it is, and I agree with him on this one. The rating system and the top 20 would'nt serve a purpose if only top quality pimps were allowed. Besides, I like seeing all the pimp efforts, the good and the bad.
the whole point of the pimping PROJECTS section is that it is people trying new things. I am proud to say it was me that made the mini cheddar - yes, it's not as good as some of the others, obviously, but why shouldn't it have the same rights to space as other projects? it took time, effort and imagination to work out how to make that.
i do agree with ladyv and think a picture of the top pimp should be on the front page though
A lot of recently submitted pimps have been just added to the long pimps list, surely things like the Chocolate buttons or the Jelly baby should be filed under simple pimps? How hard can it to melt chocolate into a plate or make some jelly in a cake mold! Finding some of the earlier pimps can take a while (if the google search doesnt find them) so a better way of recording the pimps might be a good thing e.g. alphabetically
I think an alphabetical index might be a good idea, whether it's alphabetical by the name of the original product though? Would make it easier to compare similar pimps, like the bourbon or jaffa cake or after eight.
Other than that leave it where it is, if anything, you could make a separate section for the ones that go spectacularly wrong, because they're just funny [Razz]
