I've been looking on this forum for a while, and I've seen a lot of people wanting savoury pimps, well I've just thought of a way to do it....

What you need is a big french stick and the filling of your choice, you'll probably need a fair amount of filling, seeing as most french sticks are about 3 feet long. Now that to me seems pimped out, but I'd like to hear your comments.

I really hope no one has done this before, especially as it's my first suggestion [Laughing] .

I just thought of a way to make this into the ultimate hotdog thing, it has been suggested before, but has never made it beyond that stage, because no one has thought of a way to cook the immense sausage...until now that is! [Laughing]

How about we cook it cumberland sausage stylee! Have it coiled up in the pan, then uncoil it and put it in a big baguette, with a few onions and some ketchup, that way, there won't be any food poisoning, and it will still be of pimped size....well if 3 times counts as pimping

Please feel free to do this, if you're after a savoury pimp, I'm not so I honestly don't mind you doing this one for me, I also wouldn't mind being credited for the idea! [Wink] [Razz]

I think if you buy a string of sausages they are only seperated by a twist of the skin so theoretically you could untwist them and with a bit of cajoling maybe make one big long sausage? [Very Happy]

    Alternatively, buy sausage meat.
Or would that just make sticky mess when you cook it?

On a completely different note, can anyone else remember square sausages which looked like a loaf of sliced bread?

It would be hard to put them into a sausage like shape after cooking, but interesting idea.

Those square sausages are amazing, I'm sure you can still get them at somewhere like farmfoods or something like that. Maybe even Iceland.

The mahoosive subs are known as Daddy sammij's in our household. Me and my dad usually polish off half each, stuffed with whatever we can find in the fridge!!! Sooooooo good. *dribble*

Tedmus is right (scary as that is!!) - you can untwist a sting of sausages and squish the filling around to make an uber-sausage!! Once all curled up the question would be whether to boil it, fry it, or add it to to the biggest BBQ in the world!!

If you really wanted the authentic frankfurter taste (as opposed to sausage), I guess you would have to find some of them little skins (yes, the ones that look like supersized johnnies) and a sausage machine and decant the fillings of several (hundred) little frankfurters into the biggest and blingingest hot dog ever seen!!

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Hot Doggy Dog!!

Oh yeah, I found some of them freaky square sausage things in Morrisons the other day. They're wrong, I tell you, WRONG!!

(no I've never eaten them, but how can you have a square sausage?? Culinary witchcraft at play methinks!)

    I remember they were lovely!
It made making sausage sarnies a lot easier.
    [Laughing]

As to cooking the uber sausage, I think the easiest way would be over a massive camp fire.

Square Sausages are popular in Scotland! Many a great breakie in Glasgow with a square sausage!!!

Aye, my dad suggested that to me actually!

    I'd forgotten.

It was during a conversation about 'links'

    I lead a very thrilling life <nods>

Wow, I've seen Quinzos party sub but didn't know Subway do them!

Anyway, a sub made from a french stick is wrong. French sticks are too thin and crispy. You'd really need to make your own bread imo.

Oh and the sausage thing? If you're veggie, you could always use some of that veggie sausage mix and pop it in the oven (seeing that extra large saucepans might not be handy...
