seeing as i've lost 7 stone already and i'm currently trying to get my bmi low enough to adopt, this is something i feel strongly enough about that i've written an article on ciao. i'll find a link
Losing 3 and a half stone when I was 15 was the best thing I have ever done (next to passing my driving test 1st time - ha ha) It's a wonderful feeling!
Since I just ruined dinner I think I may be starting an impromtu diet tonight!
I also severely burnt my arm and a pan! Baaaaad night [Sad]
isn't that unhealthy to lose weight to quickly?
and does any1 have any tips on how clear up you skin becasue i've stopped drinking fizzy drinks and stuff but it doesn't seem to be making a diffrence.
To the best of my knowledge, cut the fizzy drinks and everything sweet. Chocolates and all the rest, alcohol too (although you should be too young for that anyway!). Vitamins and vegetables are good, although avoid lots of citric acid (i.e. lots of oranges and lemons).
That advice sounds like a general guide to healthy eating but you'd be surprised how many things that's good for [Wink]
Losing weight quickly is indeed unhealthy, but it depends how much you have. If you're like 10 stone overweight you can drop 3 stone pretty quickly as a lot of it is water retention. It's when you weigh things like 12 stone and then lose 3 quickly that you should start to be concerned!
I think I eat reasonably healthily but I'm the same shape as my dad - tall and thin. I think most people tend to be the same shape as their same sex parent.
Well done pesky and keep it up. It's often easier to self-motivate when there such a fantastic goal waiting at the finish line. Good luck with the adoption and weight loss!
yes, it's unhealthy to lose weight quickly, but as pimp daddy says, if you're very overweight, it's completely healthy at the start of a weight loss plan. i weighed 24 stone, so a stone is a smaller fraction of my weight than it would be for someone who weighed less
That has to have been one of the most emotional things I have read - doesn't help that there is a slow song on in the background [Crying or Very sad] [Razz]
I have had some difficulites with my own weight - in that I was a size 14 and in just over a year I am now a size 8, down to 8 stone - I have mixed feelings about this and my family are upset at how much weight I have lost. I am not writing this to get attention, sympathy or whatever, but just to say that weight loss (or gain as well) affects everyone in different ways, and it's sometimes not always something we can control.
I may sound like I've gone on a tangent here, but my point is that Pesky has done something and stayed dedicated to it and deserves so much praise and applause, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for her - and her pictures certainly cheered me up too. [Razz]
Best of luck with the rest of your journey and every health and happiness in the future.
Well my arms have nearly stopped hurting from my inargural gym session last friday and I'm back at Aikido tonight so I'm stepping up the exercise. Hopefully my graph will see some downward trend soon.
Size 8 is tiny though! Got any before and after pics?
warm-ups are important but so are cool downs [Very Happy]
My mum used to be a size 12 and is now an 8 [Very Happy] i think she did very well because if she hadn't he celestoral would have been even higher that it is now and shes slightly over even now
My dad died from high cholesterol but when you look at a list of the causes which include age, alcohol, smoking, obesity etc. There must be about 15 in the list and the only one which remotely ticked the box was stress. He even insisted on having flora which is supposed to lower cholesterol and he was thin too. I think most people attribute it to obesity as they do with a lot of diseases but it's not always the case.
nope my mum is as thin as a twig but high colestorol runs in her family but on the other hand my dad has ridiculasly low cholestrol running in his family so hopefully i'll be ok [Very Happy]
